UX Developer with the ability to hand code HTML/XHTML and CSS to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 conformance requirements required to join the Reading Room Family!

We are looking for UX Developers to join our fantastic International Digital Consultancy, based in the heart of Manchester. It’s an incredibly exciting time to be joining the team – we’re working with a diverse range of clients, producing award-winning work and expanding both in the UK and globally! And, as always, we make sure it’s a brilliant place to be with table tennis, pool table, fridges full of beer and, of course, wonderful and extremely talented colleagues!

As a UX Developer, you’ll be responsible for developing the frontend of a variety of websites and internet-based applications (with guidance from accessibility and interface experts in-house). You may also be required to advise on broader interface objectives; including accessibility, usability, SEO and front end optimisation. Photoshop abilities and solid knowledge of JavaScript and jQuery are essential. No two projects are the same and there is always a variety of technologies used from project to project. At Reading Room, you’ll get the chance to develop your skill set in a fun and challenging work environment. You’ll liaise with other members of the technical team, as well as the creative and client services departments, so it’s essential that you enjoy a fast paced environment and are flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.

.Net Developer- Manchester

PHP Developers

We're looking for talented PHP developers of varying experience to join our international digital consultancy in the centre of Manchester. Ideally, you’ll have commercial experience as a developer for a digital / web agency, but we value talent and passion as much as an impressive CV.

When you join Reading Room, you’ll be involved in work for charity, arts & culture, public sector and big brand business on all manner of projects from CMS implementation to ecommerce to custom development. You’ll be working closely with all team members and expected to apply your technical knowledge at all stages of a project – we don’t just hand you a brief and expect you to deliver it, rather give you the opportunity to input and guide from the very first stages of a project and be involved right up to delivery.

Essential experience is:

• Experience of PHP 5 (pref 5.3+)
• Solid grasp of Object Orientated principles
• Experience of source code management systems such as SVN
• Solid grasp of MySQL - SQL techniques , Views, Events, Triggers etc
• LAMP, WAMP, XAMPP
• XHTML
• XML
• CSS
• Web services (SOAP/REST)
• Javascript/JQuery

Ideally, it wouldn’t hurt for you to have demonstrable experience in:

• CMS Experience – Wordpress, Drupal, Typo3, Terminal4, Joomla, etc
• Frameworks: Zend, Silex, Symphony2, Yii, CakePHP. etc
• Linux/apache administration/ linux command line
• Setting up cron jobs/scheduled tasks
• cURL
• Experience with Build/Deployment Servers
• Search solutions (Google, Coveo, Lucene/Solr etc)
• SSH
